The
Deportation In
1755th the British forced the Acadians to sign an oath of
allegiance, the Acadians had previously signed such oaths but this one was
unconditional, while previous oaths included conditions such that they would
not be required to take up arms against France or the Micmac allies. When
they refused to sign, the discussion was made by the British to remove
the French Acadians from Nova Scotia. On August 11th,1755 Acadians settlers were deported from Fort Cumberland. On
September 5th,1755 the residence of Grand Pre and Pisiquit came
together to create and to declare the deportation order. |
